I am a freelance writer with a master's degree in health psychology. For nearly 40 years, I’ve specialized in reliable, relatable writing about health, medicine, health care, mental health, and wellness. For the last several months, I’ve spent much of my time creating science-based Covid-19 content for health systems, health insurance plans, and national organizations.
I work frequently with custom content providers (such as StayWell) and health care companies (such as Philips Sleep and Respiratory Care). I have also written scores of articles for high-traffic websites (such as Psychology Today).
In addition, I am author or coauthor of 15 books for readers of all ages. The most recent is If Your Adolescent Has ADHD: An Essential Resource for Parents. This book, cowritten with Dr. Thomas J. Power, was published by Oxford University Press in collaboration with The Annenberg Public Policy Center.
I wrote the popular Minding the Body blog for Psychology Today from 2000 through 2019. I have also blogged for LifeWorks, Yahoo! Health, and others.
I often write e-newsletter content. Whether the focus is wellness tips or health news, I know how to craft compelling subject lines and strong calls to action.
I started my career freelancing for print magazines in the 1980s and '90s. Today, I create newsstand-caliber content for the custom magazines of health care organizations, hospitals, health plans, a research foundation, and a pharmacy chain.
My books range from a children's biography of Louis Pasteur to a two-volume Encyclopedia of Depression. Along the way, I also coauthored seven books for the Annenberg Public Policy Center's Adolescent Mental Health Initiative.
I am a writer who thinks visually as well as verbally, so I love creating infographic text. I also write webinar slides, video scripts, brochures, and booklets.
